Probation for dad who broke 6-week-old daughter's bones
By Michelle Casady | April 24, 2014

This makes a total mockery of justice! Anger management classes? Really?

SAN ANTONIO — A man accused of fracturing his 6-week-old daughter's bones in 16 places in December 2011 was sentenced Thursday to 10 years' deferred adjudication probation, meaning if he has no violations during that time he won't have a conviction on his record.

John Anthony Guerrero, 26, pleaded no contest in February to a first-degree felony charge of intentionally causing serious bodily injury to his infant daughter in exchange for a deal that capped his possible punishment at 15 years.

The offense usually is punishable by up to life in prison...

... At the hospital, doctors noted serious bruising on the girl's back, 10 rib fractures, a crushed pelvis and various leg fractures. Some of the fractures were at least a week old, documents state.... MORE

I think that would be a very suitable punishment given the life-long impact these injuries could have on the baby girl.

There are a couple of light years between life imprisonment and probation with anger management classes. Actually, I probably don't want to hear the judge's reasoning because there can be no excuse for what that father did to his infant child.

As a guy who never smoked anything, I never understood why pot is illegal. From what I've seen, it's not like people usually smoke a joint then go out and get into fights like they do when they drink.

I'm a father to two girls and I'm extremely involved with my children. Stories like this really really really touch a nerve with me.

When a rabid dog hurts a kid it's destroyed, I'll never agree that a rabid human that hurts a kid should be released back into the population on "his promise" not to hurt another.
