(26,268 posts)I've got scores of daffodils, this year. After our hideous winter, seeing them is like medicine.

(26,268 posts)I'd love more hyacinths. They don't seem to multiply as fast as the daffs.

(11,770 posts)Isn't spring glorious! My hyacinths got snowed on and froze, so they're not looking too great. However, the rest of our early springers-- daffys, crocs, bleeding hearts, lily of the valley, iris, tulips, etc... all look as though they came through ok and I cannot wait for them to start blooming! Of course the violets are up and blooming all over, so sweet. It's been a long hard winter up here in NE Illinois.

(26,268 posts)I'm surprised the flowers are as abundant as they are, this year. The bulbs must LOVE the cold. However, except for a few flowers, the forsythia still hasn't bloomed.

The azaleas don't look too hot, and I don't know about my rhubarb yet, but all else seems to come through ok- time will tell.

(86,647 posts)We still have lots of icy snow on the ground, it will be weeks before we get ours to enjoy. But with all that ground water, the wild orchids will be awesome come June/July. Well worth the wait... I guess.
Thanks for sharing.

(86,647 posts)I put up the majority of my winter gear along with ski stuff and out my bicycle and rode it around all day Monday, it was in the 50s and nice. But then we had thunderstorms on Tuesday and it's been in the 30s at best, right now we've got some heavy, wet snow coming down... already an inch on the ground in the past half hour.
It'll be nice pretty soon, it's part of the bargain of living at 7,000ft. Wouldn't trade it for anything, besides, we'll probably skate past fire season unscathed, I hope.
