Cliven Bundy: When blacks were slaves, they had family structure and something to do

by Josh Feldman | 12:36 pm, April 24th, 2014

<...>

He said, “I’m wondering are they happier now under this government subsidy system than they were they were slaves when they were able to have a family structure together… and the people have something to do.”

Bundy then asked, “Are they better off being slaves in that sense or are they better off being slaves of the United States government in the sense of a subsidy?”

So what was it like being enslaved?

Enslaved black people were, with some regularity, beat with cowhide whips, tongs, pokers, chairs, and wooden boards. Nails were driven through their palms, pins through their tongues. Eyes were gouged out for the smallest offense.

When people like Cliven Bundy assert the primacy of the past it is important that we do not recount it selectively. American enslavement is the destruction of the black body for profit. That is the past that Cliven Bundy believes "the Negro" to have been better off in. He is, regrettably, not alone

These people live in their own little contrive fairyland where minorities have it much easier than the poor downtrodden white Christian male.

they were happy before the Civil Rights movement. Why, they even sang while they were working out in the fields and ole' Phil never saw any of them being mistreated, so they must have been happy.

Bundy is not alone in his beliefs.

A good number of conservatives believe it, they just won't say it.

"..a family structure together..". Right. Until the kindly master sold off members of the family because they were "uppity" or because he needed the money to pay off his gambling debts.
