The head is VERY vascular. Even nicking yourself shaving can make a mess.
If there was an injury that was severe enough to break the skin--there would be visible blood. And, there isn't.

19. Depends on how it was hit

One time happened during a sporting event and the shiners were immediate. My nose was pushed back.

Another time I was goofing around with friends and hit the bridge across a wooden chair when I ducked down...eyes weren't blackened...but the nose was.

Another time I got hit (I know nobody here could imagine that!) and on the side I took the punch blackened, the other side didn't.
