Neb. law officials: Colo. should help cover cost of local drug enforcement

Neb. law officials: Colo. should help cover cost of local drug enforcement

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska law officers have expressed frustration with the increasing cases of drug enforcement since Colorado legalized recreational marijuana on Jan. 1.

Officers across the border in Colorado’s neighboring state are upset that Nebraska taxpayers are left with the expense of jailing, prosecuting and defending people arrested on possession of pot brought over from Colorado, according to the Omaha World-Herald. Rather, law enforcement suggested Colorado taxpayers foot the bill.

...

Anthony Schutz, an associate professor at the University of Nebraska College of Law in Lincoln, told the Omaha World-Herald there may be other options than suing, like getting Colorado to share some of the marijuana tax revenue.

Another option, he said, would be for the federal government to shut down recreational pot sales across the nation.

Or Nebraska could join the 21st Century and legalize.

And make everybody smoke all their pot right there.
You could have blacklights and posters, beaded curtains, and jefferson airplane playing in the background. Make it nice.

I'm not terribly familiar with the CO law. Does it allow for smoking in what would essential be a "Weed Bar?"

They would have to wait until their could drive, obviously....

i've not set foot in that state since two days after sept. 11, 2001, when i was headed home to MN after cutting short my CO job expedition for obvious reasons. it wasn't so much the ticket for posession and paraphernalia that bothered me, it was the hours on the side of the road on a cold rainy night, not letting me put a coat on while the drug interdiction crew rooted thru my belongings looking for a big haul, which they never found, and i just wanted to get close to people i knew and loved. fuck that shit, Nebraska. i've since spent thousands of dollars and many hours of my time avoiding your state. South Dakota and Kansas enjoy my tourism dollars. and guess what? the joke's on you. your dipshit crew of thugs and drug sniffing dogs didn't even find all of the evil weed i had in my car. i was still able to get home on my backup stash.

It's just a matter of feet now in the good ol' USA.

What if the smoker is straddling the border?
