U.S Joan Rivers blasts Cleveland ‘house of horrors’ vics: ‘They got to live rent free for a decade’

I'm sorry but when did it get funny to joke about women who were held captive and raped for over a decade? I think it's time that Joan River is given the boot. She is an offensive crazy lady who I think had her face pulled one too many times that it stretched her brain out of whack

Joan Rivers blasts Cleveland ‘house of horrors’ vics: ‘They got to live rent free for a decade’

oan Rivers has no sympathy for the women locked in Ariel Castro’s Cleveland “house of horrors.”
One day after Rivers compared on the "Today" her daughter’s cushy Malibu guestroom to the three women’s decade-long plight — “Those women in the basement in Cleveland had more space” — she doubled-down Wednesday on the inappropriate joke and called the victims freeloaders.

“They got to live rent free for more than a decade,” a defiant 80-year-old Rivers told TMZ on Wednesday.

<<<snip>>>

“There is nothing to apologize for. I made a joke. That’s what I do. Calm down. Calm f------ down. I’m a comedienne. They’re free, so let’s move on,” Rivers told the newspaper.

It's time that E! channel dumps this idiot. They showed a picture of those 3 girls and they look beautiful Compared to the photo of Joan Rivers who has spent her life destroying her face with plastic surgery and it looks like she has her daughter doing the same thing too.

I don't really care about her red carpet bullshit but she's a good standup and always hilarious on the Stern show.

It's just a joke. She didn't "blast" anyone. That implies she was serious.

Attention.

She knows a joke like this in the hyper-sensitive media society we live in will garner her attention she would not have otherwise gotten.

Tell that joke in a bar and no one will care at all. It's not even really funny as black humor goes. A joke like that needs a run up. But put it online or in an interview and people will go nuts.

Clever really. More so for its simplicity.

and there was a show on about mummies. And then I flipped channels and there was Joan Rivers who had obviously just had a major face lift. She looked so much like one of those mummies that I nearly jumped out of my skin, it was so creepy.

It's a comedian's job to make jokes. And "dark" humor is a well-known genre of comedy.

It pushes the envelope and it pushed buttons. That an 80-year-old can still be this edgy is oddly comforting to me.

Like if someone has to resort to that for humor maybe they're just not funny.

It's not everybody's cup of tea, I'll grant you. Comedy is always walking on a tightrope -- and sometimes you go full-Wallenda and plunge to your death. What one person thinks is not funny and offensive has the person next to him peeing his pants in laughter. There's no accounting for it.

But getting irate about it just strikes me as....well....sort of Republicanish.

There are a trillion things out there in this world she can joke about including plenty of dark humor. But I hardly find rape very humorous and I most would agree with me on that one. Especially rape that occured for 10 years while 3 women were held hostage in a basement.

You think that's funny - maybe you'd like to live rent free in the home of a person who will rape you for 10 years and hold you hostage?

Just saying....

And sorry Joan isn't edgy, she's long overdue for retiring. I volunteer at a job where I work surrounded with 70-80 year olds and rest assured they are all much more alive and aware than Joan Rivers.

Comedians like them use edgy humor to make audience members think and examine their worldview. She's doing it to get easy laughs by taking cheap shots. It's one thing to do that to do that to celebrities and the rich and powerful-they can take it and often need to be brought down a peg or two.. It's another thing entirely to do it to the weak, powerless and downtrodden. The latter is vicious, mean, and socially iredeemable. If Joan can't figure out the difference, she needs to hang it up.

Figuratively, of course.

When she pulled that fast one on Johnny with her failure of a TV show she lost me.

I can still laugh at her older stuff, including her cracks about Heidi Abramovitz. (Fictional school tramp)

She is the funny and a comedy titan.

Some very nasty remarks about an older woman are flying.

She is a comedian. She tells jokes for a living. If you can't take a joke that is your problem not hers.
