On This Earth Day - I'm Working

I finally looked up from my keyboard and realized that it's Earth Day. As it turns out, my current website content project has a relationship with Earth Day, and I hadn't made the connection, really, somehow.

I write the content for business websites, either new websites or complete rebuilds of existing websites. I write everything on the site and work with a website designer and the owners of the business to create content that is designed to market that business's products or services.

I'm wrapping up the content, this week, for a website for a scrap metal company. Not a junkyard, but a metal recycling business that handles the full range of metals, buying, processing and preparing those metals for sale to its customers who do the final processing before they are sold back to industry for reuse.

Recycled metals save huge amounts of energy that would be required to take ore and turn it into useful metals. It's one of the biggest energy savers there is, really. For example, it takes less than 5% of the energy required to create virgin aluminum from ore to remelt recycled aluminum for reuse. Similar energy savings exist for most metals.

Not only that, but recycling metals lowers the need for mining operations with their environmental damage. It also creates jobs and supports manufacturing of goods that can be sold for less than if they had been made from virgin materials.

I don't know why I didn't make the connection between my project and Earth Day, but now that I have it seems all the more worthwhile.

Recycle and Reuse!

to go into the recycling wheelie bin. The Google Doodle is nice and peaceful today, befitting Earth Day.

Most of my trash is used kitty litter, dead mice and packaging. I wish companies would stop using mylar packages in boxes. The mylar should be sufficient all on its own.

garden programs.

Thanks for posting positive info on Earth Day...info that some may not have known unless you made the connection and wanted to share. Ditto on recycle and reuse. Even better to conserve and not use in the first place!
