The two biggest water wasters out here in the desert are golf courses and fountains. We've managed to get rid of all but indoor fountains around here and some courses have put Astroturf on the fairways to save water.

There are a few diehard lawn people in my area, but they're far outnumbered by the rest of us who have lawns with rocks or drought tolerant desert plants.

Gosh, Maybe Southern California could go to HALF the conservation measures that Southern Nevada has?

For actual information (other than "Vegas is Dying!!!!&quot please consult Wikipedia as to the main cause: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado_River_Compact .

A much bigger flaw can be found in Arizona, in which 90% of the Colorado's water goes to agriculture, of which 90% is cattle ranching...which accounts for about ten percent of Arizona's agricultural output. California isn't much better.
