Judge tells convicted killer, "I hope you die in prison" after she mocked grieving family

JACKSON, Mich. - A Jackson County judge lost his temper during a sentencing hearing and told a convicted murderer that he hoped she died in prison, reports CBS affiliate WLNS in Lansing.

Judge John McBain sentenced 31-year-old Camia Gamet to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Wednesday for killing her boyfriend in 2012. When Gamet appeared to mock the victim's grieving family members by rolling her eyes, the judge lost his temper, according to the station.

Camia Gamet, 31, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. CBS AFFILIATE WNEMWNEM reports McBain threatened to tape Gamet's mouth shut, saying, "You're going to shut your mouth or I'm going to have some duct tape put on it."

"I agree with [the victim's] family. I hope you die in prison," McBain said.

A judge should never get emotional in the courtroom. He just could have said that when you are an old woman looking for a commutation your reactions today will be played for the governor at that time.

This woman is not very intelligent. Actually she has the intelligence of the frying pan she used.

The appeal will happen anyway. Nothing will change.

While I don't agree with a judge getting over emotional in his or her courtroom, verdicts, juries and sentencing guidelines being what they are, it's just another human outlet.

Sounds to me like she got the right sentence. As for the judge's losing his temper, he's only human. It's got to be tough to watch a defendant not even pretend to be remorseful and openly mock the victim's family.

I dig that the woman is a monster but if his honor can't keep his emotions in check then maybe he needs to find another line of work.
