If something actually happened, they'd all shit their pants and run. That's why they put unarmed women up front. They believe, and probably rightly so, that the law enforcement folks won't start shooting. So, they can puff out their chests and pretend not to be cowards.

On the other hand, in every group of these militia morons, there's likely one or two who are over the top and could go over the edge and start the shooting. That's the real danger here. Most don't fit that category, but all it would take is for one suicidal moron to fire one shot and the game would be on.

This is the risk, and the LEOs involved know that. It's a very difficult situation and the BLM handled it with a strategic retreat this time. The next time, I'm sure they'll have other plans and better support. But, the risk is still there of one idiot who gets trigger happy and doesn't give a shit what happens.
