This is real and as someone who works in the industry, can tell you, it happens more often than you would think.
When the hell will Visa, MC and Amex get their shit together? EMV technology exists, it works, and it's a whole hell of a lot safer for the customer. I'm ready to upgrade our hardware, but no authorizer in the US can handle chip and pin.

(10,201 posts)That I am aware of actually uses the chip and pin functionality. I use in Europe, but here the mag stripe is what is read.
