Heads exploding at Yahoo. I just went there to check my AT@T mail and

there is an article "Liberal activist, Jane Fonda, to play Nancy Reagan in film" OMG...The world is coming to an end. Of course Jane is the perfect fit, there are two photos of the two of them next to each other and with some makeup tweaking there is a striking similarity. This is considered and deemed unimaginable. There is a vote there if you care to give it a shot. Jane needs some love...Bwahahaha...

I don't care what anybody says, Hanoi Jane was a traitor to this country when she visited North Vietnam and allowed herself to be photographed by the VC manning an anti aircraft gun. She turned in one of the POW's for trying to pass her a note to his family. All of this while our men were dying and fighting them. I marched in opposition to the Vietnam war but what she did went beyond the pale.

I turn my back on her. She is a non person in my book.

I heard wrong on the passing the note. Doesn't change my opinion of her. She gave comfort and aid to the enemy and the only thing that saved her sorry "A" is that Nixon was trying to wind down our war efforts.

on what was happening in VietNam. In addition to the 50.000+ American lives that were lost, 5-6MM So and No Vietnamese died. Millions more injured. At what point do you say enough is enough? And what would you do to help bring it to an end?

The evidence of Nixon’s sabotage of the 1968 Vietnam peace talks is now overwhelming – including diplomatic cable traffic and contemporaneous audiotapes of Johnson discussing the Republican promises to South Vietnamese President Nguyen van Thieu of a better deal if he boycotted negotiations in Paris.

And it was so unpopular even among the troops that a popular past time among both the enlisted men and draftees was to off their commanding officers.

Not only that, but the Big Companies getting the Defense moulah for war contracts made shitty equipment. The Army offered its GI's metal detectors with which they could go out into the open fields and hunt around for explosives and mines (Items that were made out of plastic.)

Like Iraq, it was an entire war fought without anything resembling a strategy. Except of course, those with the connections got the Defense contracts and made a whole pile of profit for themselves and their families.

At the time, Jane Fonda was the least of the American public's problems. Though the RW loved to be hating on her.

Nixon(like everyone else)already knew the war was a dead loss by then. It was bad enough that so many died before 1969, but everyone, American and Vietnamese, who died in the war after that date died for no reason.

It's the people who got us into that war and kept us there that you should hate...not Jane Fonda. All she was trying to do was to get the killing stopped.

Soldiers who were there insisted it just wasn't true - even the ones mentioned in those RW e-mailings.

FWIW, I'm not enamored of her trip to North Vietnam either, but here's hoping that I broke at least one link in the chain of an utterly false RW smear.

Pee Wee Herman would bring a special verve to the role of the jelly bean eating, often childlike demeanor of Reagan. The oval office could be like Pee Wee's playhouse, with Pee Wee Reagan calling up Gorbachev on the red phone to make jokes about bombing Russia and he could have a line up of kooky regulars in the Playhouse, like the official White House astrologer.
