(CNN) The husband of the woman caught making out with Rep. Vance McAllister said the Louisiana Republican destroyed his life and marriage.
Im just freaking devastated by the whole deal, man. I loved my wife so much. I cannot believe this. I cannot freaking believe it. I feel like Im going to wake up here in a minute and this is all going to be a bad nightmare, Heath Peacock told CNN Tuesday.
On Monday, The Ouachita Citizen in West Monroe, Louisiana, published a surveillance video it says shows McAllister and his scheduler, Melissa Hixon Peacock, passionately kissing in his office last December.
Heath Peacock said he didnt know about the episode until Melissa called him a couple hours before the news broke.

(1,363 posts)Vance McAllister(R) Louisiana, is the worst type of weasel. However, I see a bigger picture here. West Monroe is home to the gun totin', bible thumping Duck Dynasty D-Bags. Watch the local West Monroe TeapubliKKKans run Willie Duck Dynasty for Vance McAllister's seat. You read it here first.

However, I doubt that they would want to live in Washington DC.....that is our only saving grace.

(62,444 posts)Oh horseshit.
Buddy, if you love her, then the two of you can work this out, get over it, and move on, instead of whining about your injured sense of masculinity before a national audience.

(11,260 posts)If I got caught doing that, my wife would divorce me right away since smaller lies are lies just the same. Similarly, I would leave my wife.

(8,646 posts)Loving someone doesn't mean you have to prove it by putting up with their lies and betrayals.
And how does this have to do with his masculinity? Because he's airing his feelings in public?
jberryhill
(62,444 posts)And....what "lies"?
If someone I love does something wrong then:
(A) I would spend some time with them to find out what happened, how it happened, why it happened, and whether the relationship is worth salvaging, and
(B) wouldn't be talking to the national press.
Their marriage was likely shit in the first place if he's on that kind of hair trigger.
And if being able to accept that people have flaws, make mistakes, and can work through difficulties is "putting up with", then I wish you well in any relationship with anyone human.

(62,444 posts)It's pretty easy to conceive that someone can get caught up in being away a lot and spending a lot of time in heady places and events with a powerful figure and having things get out of control.
It can happen, and it's why people who might not think they need to do so should set some basic rules and keep to them when they are away from their spouse.
If its worth loving someone, then it's worth trying to see if things can be worked out. If one thinks the person you love is never going to disappoint, then one is likely in for a very disappointing life.
nomorenomore08
(13,324 posts)loved her that much, you would think they'd try to work things out. He seems to have dropped her like a hot potato.

(62,444 posts)Because love isn't something I thought people could turn off like it was a light switch.
Like anything else, I guess people are easier to dispose of than to attempt to repair.

(8,646 posts)And you can't know if his marriage was shit, and not everyone is going to do what YOU would do. Doesn't mean they don't love the person they were with because they don't follow YOUR prescribed rules. And I have no issues with 'flaws' but I do have a huge issue with cheaters. It's a deal breaker and every relationship I've been in, I've been very upfront about that. Every relationship has their deal breaker. It doesn't mean you 'don't put up with flaws' and can't have relationships. What crap.

(10,960 posts)Nobody.
And I am not about to define what love is for other people, nor dictate how they are supposed to feel.
Some people bursting with love would break up.
Some people with little regard for each other would stay together.
And none of it is my call.

When the northern Louisiana voters smelled a rat they backed McAllister instead of having a Republican crony shoved down their throats.
As bad as this guy is, he is actually better than the hand-picked Jindal candidate, who the Republican cartel thought they could install by removing the previous congressman.

(34,648 posts)The press will not help you in this matter. Maybe you can work it out, given some time and hard work. Or you may need to divorce. Poor guy, he sounds like he is taking this very hard, like there was a death in the family. I feel for him.

(1,508 posts)It's the cheating wife's fault, not the congressman's. As one that has been cheated on I know there's little that is more devastating but the right person has to be blamed. It's her responsibility to walk away from that, whether it costs her job or not.
