Boston Mayor Menino (D) staying neutral in Brown-Warren race!!

Is he a DINO? Why wouldn't he back the Democratic candidate vs. pretty boy Brown?

In a potentially shocking development, Boston Mayor Tom Menino (D) told WBZ-TV that he's not taking sides in the U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts, potentially signalling his support for Sen. Scott Brown (R) over Elizabeth Warren (D).

Said Menino: "When you vote, it's a secret ballot."

When pressed, he added: "I'm not with anybody at this time. At this time, I'm still not involved in the campaign."

I know in the last election, there was a ton of conflict in the Massachusetts Democratic Party over who should be endorsed running against Brown on our side. They made the wrong choice, backed a weak candidate and we lost. Menino was not a supporter of Coakley, he was a Mike Capuano guy.....and Capuano would have won that race. The Boston machine did not get out and work the ground for Coakley at all.

My guess is this is all typical Massachusetts party politics. They'll sit down at the state convention, hash it out and all will be okay. Boston pols just don't like to back someone who isn't "Their guy/gal" until they've gotten the ring kissed.
