Why people who want cheaper gas should support funding alternatives

From interview with Saudi Prince last year....

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/meast/05/29/us.saudi.prince.oil/index.html?hpt=T2

"We don't want the West to go and find alternatives, because, clearly, the higher the price of oil goes, the more they have incentives to go and find alternatives," said Talal, who is listed by Forbes as the 26th richest man in the world.

Currently bio-diesel here in Los Angeles is 27 cents cheaper than regular gas. I really want a diesel car - HATE supporting the various evildoers who control the global oil trade!

1. I could not agree more! As individuals, alternatives could mean more money saved.

Meanwhile, I bicycle which is fun, less expensive and I get to see all of those beautiful trees that bloom in the spring.

2. My car can run on bio-fuel, not diesel though, if I could only find a station close enough

to me that sold it. It occurred to me that since BP is closing many of its Arco stations (which sell the cheapest gas in my area, the Central Coast of CA) maybe some entrepreneur could buy them up and sell bio-fuels instead. Many cars manufactured to run on gas, like my Jeep Cherokee, can also run on bio-fuel with just a few adjustments so there would be a customer base there to start with. The reason BP is closing a lot of the stations is because of the cost of the Gulf Oil spill or so I read someplace.

Sure that Saudi Prince doesn't want us to change our energy use. Too bad. There still would be a market for his overpriced oil, just a smaller one.

3. I only have 1 station within a 5 mile radius of me that sells alternative fuel

And I'm in Los Angeles -- you would think there would be a market here if anywhere!

4. I don't think a lot of people know that their cars could run on bio-fuel.

I only stumbled across the fact by accident. There has been no effort by the press, even the left wing press, to educate the public on this.
