If there is even one more act of Muslim terrorism, it is then time for Americans to start slaughtering Muslims in the streets, all of them.

Usually even the most sociopathic individuals quickly take these sorts of tweets down once the blow back starts. In this case, no.
Meanwhile, latest reports suggests the shooter had no apparent ties to terrorism and was being treated for mental illness and evaluated for PTSD.

(12,265 posts)If some nut job sitting at home listening to these guys gets all worked up and goes out "hunting for a Muslim" and kills someone, can the guy who instigated the action be tried for murder? I think it is long past time to make right wing media responsible for the actions they cause. You can't yell fire in a movie theater, why is this free speech?

(25,984 posts)so I looked up 'sedition' on Wikipedia, which led to 'seditious conspiracy,' where I found the following gem:

No wonder the RW feels exceptionally emboldened.

(4,713 posts)to what's been released he did 4 mths in Iraq in 2011. There was no combat missions being ran, the only thing occurring was tearing down the bases.
NuclearDem
(16,184 posts)Plenty of things could have led him to develop PTSD. Accidents, insurgent attacks during the tearing down, witnessing a death...not all psyches are the same, and the same level of trauma can affect different people differently.
Besides, all we know is that he was being assessed for PTSD. That's not necessarily "he had PTSD."
giftedgirl77
(4,713 posts)There were no fucking insurgent attacks that's what I'm trying to tell you. Those bullshit 4 mth tours were a joke, but ok let's start with the he possibly had PTSD line bc he was a "soldier" & therefore led to a killing spree.
NuclearDem
(16,184 posts)Or that you had access to this guy's medical records.
giftedgirl77
(4,713 posts)military Dec 2013. So I'm well aware of what was going on in Iraq in 2011, it sure as fuck wasn't insurgents but that's cute.
NuclearDem
(16,184 posts)I'm still not sure how you conclusively know this guy didn't have some sort of mental disorder related to OIF or otherwise.
giftedgirl77
(4,713 posts)Hell he may have had PTSD from something. I have a problem with the whole he went ballistic so it must have been from his deployment. There are plenty of us that are truly fucked up that don't go on killing sprees, hell there are a couple of us that have come damn close to the point of killing people in our units & sometimes our units ignore the warnings of our providers.
So maybe what I was trying to say got confused (it happens, I have major neurological issues). It seems the minute an issue with a soldier occurs regardless of consideration of their background it is immediately a PTSD, stonecold killer mentality. I know that's not what this OP was even related to, it just happened to be the one I responded to.
NuclearDem
(16,184 posts)Plenty of my old Security Forces friends did multiple tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and came back without major issues, and then there were those that had noncombat roles in the rear that came back all kinds of fucked up (like the six month stint I did at Al Udeid flying surveillance and the PTSD I came back with).
It could have been from his deployment, and it just as easily might not have, regardless of whether he saw combat or not. Or it might not have been because of his time in at all, and something that happened stateside off base. Unless his medical records are released, we just don't know.
Sorry to hear about your situation though. As someone going through it as well, let me just say it gets better and sorry for my earlier snark.

(60,536 posts)for things he experienced prior to his military service, e.g. my oldest son suffers from PTSD from the abuse (being used as a human ashtray and daily beatings) as well as from neglect (not being fed or taken to the MD for medical care) which his birth parents inflicted upon him. The article reports the soldier "was being treated for mental illness and evaluated for PTSD." My son will be 30 years old in August, he still goes to counselling to deal with his anger issues.

(16,184 posts)That's dangerously close to over the line.

(19,877 posts)ETA Not the soldier, the RWNJ tweeter. Sorry about confusion.

(16,184 posts)At least to this alcoholic with a mental disorder.
EDIT: Saw the reply down thread. At least it wasn't directed at the soldier. That's better.

(16,184 posts)Glad that got cleared up. Nothing justifies a shooting spree, but they'll only continue if we shame people for mental conditions and addictions.
JaneyVee
(19,877 posts)Can relate to what you are going through. My comment wasn't meant shame. Stay strong.

(60,536 posts)the soldier was "a coke head alcoholic," JaneyVee? If so, please post it, that could be important information for folks to be aware of. Thanks in advance!
