Far too many commercial breaks on "Cosmo"

I'm guessing, but after watching last night's installment of "Cosmos," I have the feeling that it is a half hour event placed into an hour-long time slot.

Watching last night became so frustrating, that I'm considering not watching future episodes and instead, buying the discs when they come out.

Too bad "Cosmos" wasn't aired on PBS.

1. Agreed. Plus, too many empty special effects/ too few real facts.

The entire show could have been condensed to maybe 10 minutes.

I read during commercials… but the splashy filler didn't hold my attention either.

That is how it is paid. I just hope the ratings don't keep falling. They have been falling each week.

and fast forward through the commercials.

There does seem to be more commercials than actual content.
Quite annoying.

what I wanted to do today!

But yes, there are too many commercials, even watching online. PBS would have been better.

The good news is that Tyson took a couple of shots at the fundies about why the world couldn't possibly be a mere 6,000 years old. It seemed he was going out of his way to poke his finger in their eyes. He also squeezed in a bit of evolution to anger them even more. I Loved it.

Can't wait for their bitching and moaning which should start today.

On edit: I hope he's reaching some of the children who are being brain washed with the 6,000 year old earth crap.

This is why I did not get especially excited when I heard NDT was remarking the series. In 1980, the episodes were 55 minutes long because they were on PBS. There were no ads, so I had a solid hour to think about and absorb the message of the show. Now it's a 37 minute show with an often obnoxious interruption ever 8 minutes.

and have found them to have the typical 42-43 minutes run time that an hour slot of TV gets you these days. The filler f/x for the sake of f/x I agree with however.

I'd like to see it run for season after season.

This Hour Has 22 Minutes is a Canadian news comedy show (it's been around for ages). The name of the show is a tongue in cheek on how many commercials versus content is shown on the average hour show.

episode 4......

Fox TV vs PBS

I think if one did a word count on forty one mins of contrasting episode you would find less on the new one by about 20 percent on content.
Alot of fluff and visuals but hey, I still like it.

Commercials pay -- and for once I am actually grateful to FOX. I'm very much looking forward to being able to buy the DVDs -- I haven't enjoyed astronomy et al. this much since I was a kid in love with sci-fi space exploration novels.
