The supporters of Zimmerman are stoking the fires of outrage and indignation with lies and distortion.
The people standing with Trayvon are not standing down, they're standing with justice.

(9,186 posts)One one thousandth of their claims were true...
it still does not change the facts surrounding the murder.
Trayvon was judged guilty of being black in Zimmerman's subdivision and Zimmerman meted outswift "justice" then got to go home and enjoy dinner in his home.

Taking the consideration of the facts surrounding a possible murder charge out of the purview of a jury and judge is just unthinkable.

(10,137 posts)Saint or not, it doesn't matter: Martin had every right to walk where he did and Zimmerman had no right to challenge him. Period. I see an effort by Zimmerman's defenders to portray Martin as a doped-out thug, but it's irrelevant: even if true there was no justification for shooting.

(97 posts)When in reality weed is only bad because some rich white men decided that they wanted to make it illegal.
They didn't learn a damn thing from Prohibition. The real crime is not that Trayvon may have had weed, the real crime is that a racist asshole blew him away for the crime of being black.

(16,887 posts)When Trayvon's body was "tested" (unlike the murderer) they found no drugs in his system. From all I have heard, Trayvon was suspended for the fact that he had this bag in his possesion, not that he had possession of the drug itself. I have heard nothing that he was ever tested positively for drugs.
Truancy? Show me any kid, that hasnt "cut" school once in their life (oh yes, and that incudes parents falsely excusing their kids saying they are sick when its to go catch a plane for a holiday to Aspen or Hawaii....that too is truancy from school).....
Vandalism? There are many things that can be classified as vandalism and it could be something as simple as deciding to remove some school property from one area to another....all it takes is pissing off the wrong teacher or administrator and you can be suspended for a lot of things. When I was in highschool, a bunch of my friends on the cheer team went to the rival school and "decorated" and were charged with vandalism and per state educational rules had to be suspended for a few days and go clean it up. Oh yeah, they were all priveleged white kids including the daughter of a mid-west Senator.
Bottom line is they can try to paint Trayvon as a pot-smoking juvenile delinquent.....he is no different than any other highschool kid in America, regardless of race, socio-economic background etc. And none of the things he's been "accused" of are something that should change the minds of anyone about who Trayvon was.....a good kid in the prime of his life with a future ahead of him, stalked and killed by a man with a record (domestic violence, assaulting a police officer) as he came back from a 7-11 with his Skittles and Ice Tea as he walked home to his fathers house.
The real situation:
A police force that failed to investigate and conduct a real investigation and take forensic evidence, photos of crime scene etc. A killer with an arrest record allowed to go free and stand behind a law that allows to shoot first and ask no questions of the dead. A dead child left to lay in the morgue as a John Doe as his parents worried why he hadnt come home.
And they want us to believe Trayvon is what????

(12,022 posts)Was Trayvon ever charged with possession? How come there's no arrest record? And if there's no arrest record, how did the police know the reason for his suspension?
Did they make it all up?

(55,445 posts)When one of their own gets burned (Sanford Police chief, among others) for what they believe are political reasons, they strike back in their own way, hard and heavy...It wouldn't surprise me if Zimmerman's attorney had a pipeline of info coming from officers connected to the case -- Sanford police have already been tainted as corrupt, incompetent and indifferent, so why not go full retard? There's no reputation or pride to salvage, and if Zimmerman isn't fully exonerated, some or all of them are going to lose their jobs anyway...
Right now they are probably spending more time digging into Martin's past instead of investigating the case, and they haven't even started to fight dirty yet...Coming up next? Criminal records of Martin's parents/siblings/close relatives...Bank on it

They are defending a man who shot down an unarmed youth and most people besides the FOX news crowd knows it. Why would any thinking person vote for or support politicians that these talking heads carry water for?

(37,540 posts)The Right always seems to react to what the Left does. Once we take a side, they naturally take the opposite position. No doubt, had we concluded Zimmerman was the victim, they'd be taking up Trayvon's cause. Unfortunately for them, they are again on the wrong side of the issue. I notice that they always seem to wait until they see how a controversial story develops and which side the Left supports. Because we're more honest brokers about facts and how we support the issue, they become the champions of the wrong side of the issue. In this case, the issues are bad law (SYG - ALEC/Koch/GOP) and guns...so they have to be on Zimmerman's side, no matter how morally disgusting their defense is. Sucks to be them.

(16,887 posts)It is just emphasizing more the corruption and incompetence of the Sanford Police, the racism and bias that exists and why George Zimmerman needs to be arrested and charged.
The attempt to try this case in the public arena, smear Trayvon as a pot-smoking juvenile delinquent and George Zimmerman as a clean-cut upstanding citizen (w/ Black friends!) is disgusting and wrong. The new meme that the Zimmerman supporters are pushing that he was attacked by Trayvon first sounds so disengenius that it only is drawing more attention to how badly Mr George Zimmerman needs to be arrested and charged and how bad things are with the Sanford Police Dept. And meanwhile, if they think its going to help their case, its not....its going to make things worse and actually incite more racial tension.....
Then again, maybe that's the idea and goal....

(62,683 posts)or false) will only strengthen their convictions.
For example, I feel Zimmerman was wrong and essentially stalking/following/harrassing Trayvon.
Hearing about Trayvon's school suspensions and other alleged problems doesn't change my mind that Zimmerman needs to be arrested and charged.
Those who felt that Zimmerman was in the right wouldn't change their minds regardless of what evidence might be presented -- they'd hold on to the school/whatever issues as proof he "asked for it".
Its' like that with most issues, I think. Very little comes down the pike that will change minds in a substantive way, IMO.

(8,812 posts)WTF are the cops doing letting a guy who killed a kid go free? Regardless of his guilt or innocence, Zimmerman should've been hauled in to the police station. There's no way he should've been released at the scene of the crime.
All other information about the pasts of both Zimmerman and Martin are completely irrelevant in that respect -- like the distractors in an old-fashioned math word problem.
What occurred only serves to reinforce a Northerner's worst nightmares about corrupt racist Southern cops.
