Everybody relax, Sugar and Corn Syrup do not lead to Obesity,

any more any other calories. Forget watching sugars. Ordinary calorie counting will do. 41 studies prove it. Well ...

There a new study out now (February), funded (in part) by the Coca-Cola Company and the Calorie Control Council, (a trade group that represents the diet food and beverage industry)

This is a meta study (an informed review) of 41 other papers (funded by who knows). It is not an expensive new trial, its a summary.

Conclusion: Hurrah, sugar and syrup are in the clear!

So, if you start hearing Sugars are GR8, through the background chatter, take it with a pinch of salt. The author. John Sievenpiper MD PHD, certainly puts in a few more caveats than the headlines. But Coca Cola, he assures us, did not get to see or influence his results before publication.

You could love celery and carrots and the food police will find something in them to bitch about.

Vegetables aren't going to do you as much harm as meat, refined sugar and salt. It's still possible to eat them, you just have to be moderate.

Read "The Omnivores Dilemma" and "In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto" and take to heart what Michael Pollan says: "Eat food, not too much, mostly plants"

Yeah, yeah, I know - I'll take your Coke and Big Mac away from you when I rip them from your cold dead hands.

Food topics seem to go to peoples core because it is so tied to in our upbringing and culture in many different ways.

Obesity started spiking in this country at around the same time the "fat is bad, carbs are good" became nutrition dogma. Coincidence?

They cause obesity by covering up people's mid sections, so they can't see themselves getting fat until it's too late.
