(8,994 posts)There are far more people who work in jobs that don't offer insurance than these pundits realize. They're going to get hit, hard; especially the middle class folks. There's a donut hole that's going to appear that will become a bullet hole wound. 8% of your paycheck is a hell of a lot of money when you're already up to your eyeballs in, say, college debt, or a hell of a lot of other things.
Just remember I told you so.
...number of uninsured is known, and that includes those who work and have no insurance. The fact is there are exemptions, there's a cap, and there will be hardship waivers. A significant number of the uninsured are unemployed.
The 83 percent of American who currently have insurance are not going to be affected by the mandate.

I'm not sure why they haven't been doing a better job of that.
