(10,115 posts)I'm sitting here just saying over and over, it was Zimmerman tracking down Treyvon. You would think after listening to this friend that somehow Treyvon just for no reason attacked Zimmerman. Treyvon threw the first punch is the new talking point. But they never explain why Zimmerman's face was right in front of him to hit. Maybe, because he confronted Treyvon?

(26,044 posts)...presented as impartial "news":
With a single punch, Trayvon Martin decked the neighborhood watch volunteer who eventually shot to death the unarmed 17-year-old, then Trayvon climbed on top of George Zimmerman and slammed his head into the sidewalk several times, leaving him bloody and battered, authorities have revealed to The Orlando Sentinel.
That is the account Zimmerman gave police, and much of it has been corroborated by witnesses, authorities say.
Zimmerman has not spoken publicly about what happened, but that night, Feb. 26, and in later meetings he described and re-enacted for police what he says happened.
In his version of events, he had turned around and was walking back to his SUV when Trayvon approached him from behind, the two exchanged words then Trayvon punched him in the nose, sending him to the ground, and began beating him.

See? It was self-defense after all! Why, Zimmerman should be given a medal for defending himself against some young punk who attacked poor peaceful George from behind and trying to kill him, when the real victim -- George -- was only trying to walk away! What about a Movie of the Week about George Zimmerman, public hero? I can just imagine the country songs being written about him this very minute...

(65,616 posts)and was chasing Zimmerman down the street...in his car!!! Poor Zim only had a bag of skittles, that he threw as the car lurched forward for the attack!!!! Oh and Trayvon was suspended from school for bringing in a homemade nuclear bomb (he got the blueprints online from terrorists!). Let's see what else, the family worships satan and Zimmerman JUST GOT HOME from a trip (he was giving advice to the Pope).

WTF is wrong with you?
Bullshit! Their son was murdered, and the killer still hasn't been arrested. If Trayvon Martin's parents had not gotten the story to go national, nobody would have even known about it, and George Zimmerman would have gotten his wish for this to all "blow over."
You have been on different threads complaining about the coverage this story has been getting. Why is that?

I don't believe that. Please go to http://www.sanfordfl.gov/index.html and read the PDF documents at the links Update 1 and Update 2.
Update 1 was published three days after the shooting, long before the story got legs. From Update1:
Once the investigation is complete the information will be provided to the State Attorneys Office.
In Update 2, the Public Information Officer for the Sanford PD states:
As of Monday March 12th, 2012, the investigation into the shooting death of Trayvon Martin continues by Sanford Police Department. Investigators are finalizing details in preparation to turn the case over to the State Attorneys Office. The Sanford Police Department feels the investigation will be completed today.
I don't buy the story that the investigation would have ended without being passed on to the state attorney's office. It makes for good drama and fodder for the media circus, but I don't see any actual proof that the PD was trying to bury the investigation.

That is just bizarre to me. Not that it is relevant to the case, but it is a rather obvious detail that is being overlooked along with the employment records, college records, etc...
