I think I read that...but they are expanding and I've heard they have a few in Florida now and I hope one comes to somewhere near me. Sounds great!

There is nothing like being paid a livable wage to make you enjoy your work a lot more.

Good burger and fries, excellent price points. We have no Shake Shack here....more's the pity. Good stuff.

Wonder if that is what lets them keep their pricing for food down and pay higher than minimum wage.

12. I'm sure nobody has lower overhead than McDonalds

Shake shacks are always busy and their employees seem to be happy. They have much higher revenue per store than McD's. I think their strategy is to get more customers rather than markup the profit margins per item. People like me go out of our way looking for a shake shack (or in n out or similar). I only go out of my to mcdonalds for the coffee, which is excellent.

The shake shacks in DC sell craft brews the Brooklyn Brewery for $5. That's not that much of a markup. Comparable to any other bar or restaurant.

The burgers are fine,

BUT. . .

Those frozen-custard "concretes" are to DIE for, especially when made with seasonal fruit. The last time I was there (in late July), they had a "blueberry-pie concrete" with local berries.

Their concoctions change with the seasons.

flame broiled burgers.
They were the best ever.
They went out of business in the 80's and there's a McDonald's there now.

One opened not far from me last year.

From the press releases, write ups, articles, you'd swear they were the caviar of burgers... far from it.

Pay and benefits aside, SS is mediocre and over rated at best.

I'd give Wendy's or 5 Guys higher marks.
