I'd say karma paid her a wakeup call.

Would that this would happen to each and every Republican scumbag.

It's the only damn thing that seems to make them reveal they actually do have hearts and feelings - THEIR OWN SUFFERING.

May Karma make all the hard-hearted Repukes suffer as she did.

Hate to say it, but NOTHING else is working.....

Josh Miller, Asshole of the Day for March 1, 2014

When it comes to government benefits, while not everyone can agree on when government should help people, we do expect that those who have been helped by government in their time of need will support it for others when they need it. Or at least they will support the program for others while they themselves are actively drawing from it.

But Arkansas Rep. Josh Miller. He opposes benefits for others that he himself currently gets:

More than a decade ago, Arkansas Rep. Josh Miller (R) was in a catastrophic car accident that broke his neck and left him paralyzed. Medicare and Medicaid paid the $1 million bill for his hospitalization and rehabilitation.

But this week, as the Arkansas legislature has debated continuing its privatized Medicaid expansion under Obamacare, Miller has remained steadfast in his opposition. The Arkansas Times highlighted the contrast in a Thursday report. The alternative newspaper reported that Miller receives ongoing coverage through the government programs, including Medicaid-covered personal care assistance.

The Times asked Miller, 33, about this apparent contradiction: Shouldn’t someone who has experienced the benefits of health insurance, including insurance paid for by the government, understand the importance of expanding those benefits to others?

"kar•ma (kärˈmə
n. Hinduism & Buddhism The total effect of a person's actions and conduct during the successive phases of the person's existence, regarded as determining the person's destiny."

If her overall conduct during her lifetime is negative she will be lower on the cycle of life when she is reborn.

Karma always seems to get a bad rap.

What's worse is that her line of thinking pits one group of cancer patients against another. She doesn't say why she was willing to discriminate against one group of cancer patients (those using the Pill form) over another (those who take intravenous treatment):

Czaja and other members of the Assembly early Friday passed an amended version of a Senate bill that aims to make cancer treatment more affordable by requiring insurance companies to cover chemotherapy pills in the same way they do intravenous treatments

“I’m not a big mandate person,” said Czaja, who spent the bulk of her career in the insurance industry. “After a long conversation with my doctor, I started to think about the issue in a new way. It’s not just the affordability factor; it’s about helping people get back to normal and get back to work.”
I guess it's the work factor. Can't have those freeloading cancer patients out there not working.

I'm sorry but her come to Jesus moment is too little too late for me. How many people suffered the inconvenience while she was making up her mind which way the wind blew?

It sounds like she has been through a lot.

However, it sounds like she is your typical right-wing "conservative" and lacks empathy... right up to the point where she is affected.

lives are on the line, so I hope she gets the care she needs, and that going forward, she is a bit more humble in her work in the legislature.

If it turns out she goes back to her selfish ways, then I see no reason her opponents couldn't reasonably say, "you were against expansion of coverage before you got cancer, then you were for it. Now you're telling us, you're against expansion of other kinds of coverage. Is that because you haven't been stricken with those illnesses, either?"

Others and do so without being required to go through a similar experience. Life threatening health .problems happens to people of different views but thank goodness for Democrats like PResident Obama who cared enough to work for affordable insurance.

Per the linked article, she'd had a double mastectomy ten years ago, after pre-cancerous cells were detected in her left breast. (She also had a family history of breast cancer.)

She's now been diagnosed with metastatic cancer -- the cancer cells had spread to other parts of her body. It turns out that a double mastectomy doesn't completely prevent breast cancer; it cuts the rate by 95% but that still leaves a few people in her unfortunate situation.

As for what happens to her, I stand with most of the responses in this thread, who refuse to rejoice in her illness. It isn't a matter of politics. Cancer doesn't discriminate among her, Elizabeth Edwards, Robert Novak, Ted Kennedy, Ari Fleischer, yours truly, and many others of all political orientations. As Gilda Radner said, we're all members of the same club.

Pity some people only learn the hard way - but at least it's a step above the likes of Sarah Palin, who had a son in Iraq and STILL didn't seem concerned about the war; a pregnant teenage daughter and STILL supported the religious right; a disabled infant and STILL supported welfare cuts. Or our David Cameron, who is prepared to cut benefits for disabled people, and semi-privatize the NHS, despite the fact that he had a very severely disabled child, who was helped by the NHS during his tragically short life.

I really do hope you recover, though I'm not particularly fond of stupid republifucks. Hopefully you'll learn something that would normally have been beyond your mental capicity.
