(53,041 posts)Don't you just hate it when they allow women to speak in public? Everyone knows women's rights don't matter at all. Politics is defined in the dictionary as about men only. It's not like "liberals" care about equal rights.
I just love when the majority voters in the Democratic party are told that our concerns aren't political. Since white men are the minority in the Democratic party, obviously what they care about trumps the majority of the population of this country.
And here I thought this was 2014. You sure showed me. Hang out here long enough and we're transported back to the height of civilization in the early 60s, before that pesky Civil Rights Act and Equal Opportunity Law ruined the country by letting the rabble think their concerns matter. Good thing we have "allies" to make clear how insignificant our concerns are.
Who cares if 25% of American women are raped in their lifetimes and their civil rights systematically violated by courts. That's not political. Who cares if the GOP is politicizing our bodies while our so-called allies tell us discussions about our rights are trivial. Who cares if the NRA is working to make sure domestic batters have access to guns to kill us. It's not like anything to do with women is remotely consequential or political. Some here have decided women should be defined outside the body politic. And of course anyone who is aware knows that women are not the only ones told their concerns are trivial, which is why we have so few members of color on this site. That is the result of efforts to silence people of color because white male privilege requires never having to think about the lives, concerns, or rights of anyone but themselves.
None of those discussions would become a war if some were not so determined to suppress women's rights. If they were really our allies, they wouldn't decide our basic civil rights our rights to life and liberty, were too trivial to be considered politics. In fact, liberal men don't see feminists as their enemies. They aren't threatened by the idea that women want to be safe from rape and other forms of violence, that they want to be treated as equal human beings. People committed to equality don't find it a drag when women speak in public or resent the discussion of issues about half of the population simply because their chromosones differ from their own. Their understand that social justice depends on equality and justice for all.
After all, the words a politician uses in a speech is so much more important than the lives of half the population of the planet.

EDIT - Oh yeah, tolerance...was going to say something about that. Some are going to either have to grow a sense of humor or build up their tolerance to others opinions.
Crazy shit, really.
