Here is audio of the Wyden lecture on surveillance state last week

The lecture was part of the Wayne Morse Center's series, it was recorded by Oregon Public Broadcasting. It is 58 minutes long.

I haven't listened to it yet; wanted to get it to DUers who have been waiting for it ASAP.

Video will eventually be available, I am told by the Center. The Center is housed at University of Oregon. Morse was one of the finest Democratic senators.

He has often been a lone voice, especially during the Bush years, on the massive violations of our civil rights, using 9/11 to do so.

I wondered often why he was so passionate about protecting those rights.

Then I read his family history and the book his father wrote and it all made sense.

He was one of two to oppose the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. The other Senator to oppose was a Democrat as well, from Alaska.
Wayne Morse is one of the more amazing American political figures no one knows about.....
