Ukraine Minister Sees War Risk Growing as Obama Heads to Europe

Ukraine’s foreign minister said the risk of war with Russia was growing as President Barack Obama prepared to travel to Europe amid calls from U.S. lawmakers for more Western support for the Kiev government.

U.S. officials said Russian troops are massed along virtually the entire Ukrainian border and have about doubled in number from when Moscow’s defense ministry first announced military exercises near Ukraine.

Ukrainians are prepared to “defend their homeland,” Foreign Minister Andrii Deshchytsia said in an interview broadcast yesterday on

1. One could almost, but not quite, forget how NEW these Ukrainian leaders are.

One could almost imagine, but not quite, that these new wizards were democratically elected.

2. Russian troops are massed along virtually the entire Ukrainian border.

That's over 1400 miles which means just one deep there must be about 2,500,000 troops there.

Seems a lot considering that's more than Russia's total armed military force.

on the East border? The Russians even admit they have troops there doing "exercises".

The Russia said last week that the numbers alluded to would need not just their military but their sisters, cousins and aunts too.
