Wisconsin Lawmaker Thinks Women Are Better Off Beaten Than Divorced
Ive had people tell me that using the phrase war on women is an exaggeration. After all, they argue, women arent in any sort of physical danger. Yes, politicians may be trying to force them into a role the mother, the wife, the stay at home caregiver that they may not entirely want, but no one is trying to literally hurt them.
Wrong.
Meet Wisconsin Rep. Don Pridemore. Hes best known for his avid support of Wisconsins puppy mills, but he is the co-sponsor of the bill that declares single mothers are a cause of child abuse. Pridemore apparently is positioning himself as an expert on abuse, since he also has some very helpful advice for women who are victims of domestic violence. Don't leave
him, just try to remember what you loved about him in the first place.
Representative Don Pridemore, told TODAYS TMJ4 he thinks even in abusive relationships, there are other options than divorce. If they can refind those reasons and get back to why they got married in the first place it might help, said Representative Don Pridemore. And
without even a trace of irony, he also claims that the reason women cant single parent one of the reasons he supports the bill is because children will go astray since the father is usually the disciplinarian.
So to clarify, single parent homes run by mothers cause child abuse, but if there is spousal abuse in a two parent home the wife should stay with her husband, especially since he is needed because he is obviously the disciplinarian. Let him beat you, let him beat your children, whatever it goes on in a house is just fine as long as you stay married. Yes, there really is a war on women

No wonder they want to get rid of Domestic Violence Laws.

This one certainly deserves a close look, and the wife and children need a very safe way out.

(14,860 posts)He's a duly elected State Representative. I hope the voters in his district will remedy that situation next election, but until they do, he's a genuine lawmaker.
I feel very sorry for his wife and children.

(113,534 posts)as he certainly has none for me, nor the women of his state. he is nothing more than a woman-hating thug, and I will refer to him accordingly.

(3,596 posts)He is not a Christian, not even a reasonable facsimile of a human being if he believes it is fine for a bitch (in the sense of female dog) to be subjected to frequent and repetitive pregnancies and nursings usually in less than loving or comfortable surroundings. These puppy mills are known to be filthy, the food and other care of the bitch and her puppies less than ideal, etc.
But as to his views on women and the family...where are the empirical studies that support his wild notions? The problem with Republicans is they eschew any form of empirical, scientific evidence because they know that it will usually run counter to their distorted ideas.
Give him a few more years and he will also fade into the dustbin of history never to be thought of again.
