(35,701 posts)Poaching bison is obviously a serious offense and I hope they nail the perp but in the grand scheme of things the mismanagement of grizzlies, bison, wolves, elk and other species has been a much bigger problem in Yellowstone than poaching.
See this article. In order to maintain genetic diversity in Yellowstone wildlife populations it is necessary to bring in animals from other locations. In other words, Yellowstone is basically a zoo.
