We all know that Dick Cheney served in the Senate and also as Vice President, entitling him to taxpayer funded "socialist" health care for the rest of his life. We also know that Cheney and the Republicans opposed President Obama's health care proposal, which required insurance companies to offer health care insurance to people with pre-existing conditions.
Since Cheney and the rest of the Republicans oppose taxpayer funded health insurance, and since they're against people with pre-existing conditions having health care, should Cheney be DENIED health insurance because of his looooong history of heart troubles, which is clearly a pre-existing condition?

Those games about pre-existing, lifetime benefits, etc. are for the peons. With all due respect, I think any speculation of Cheney's medical care costs and benefits are moot.
Same with contraception, abortion, end of life care, long term care, therapy, elective procedures, etc. The rich or 1% don't have to jump through any hoops. This is a sad fact of life that Americans for a long time have ignored income equality and now it's cutting to the bone.
Although the whole issue of pre-existing condition doesn't work here, because to be on list, a pre-existing condition exists; to need a transplant, you have to have a bum body part.
Thanks for making me think of all of this.

(66 posts)A heart transplant to Darth is equivalent to a bottle of aspirin to most of us. And quite frankly with his wealth he could have gone the "medical tourist" route and gone to any country in the world that had the facilities and bought a new heart.
It appears on the surface that he was on the "list" for almost 2 years and when a match was available he was next in line. I seriously doubt that he had to get a pre-approval from some bureaucratic insurance provider.
