(171,074 posts)I doubt it would happen, but would be happily surprised if she got that seat. They'd probably go w/Savannah Guthrie before Ann due to age.

(72,790 posts)She is just awful, imo.

(5,909 posts)When she read the news on the Today show not a day went by when she didn't flub her lines.
I stopped watching it because of her and love GMA...except for George.

(24,738 posts)SHE's earned it (though I do love Ann Curry; I like her best out in the field where her compassion really shows.).
Listend to Rachel on the missing airliner last week, it hit me: she's a fabulous oral story-teller. Those first 15 minutes of her show every night are just riveting, no matter the topic!

(15,438 posts)He's a true journalist who won't allow Republicans OR Democrats to pull a fast one on him. But he asks the hard questions and corporate America would never choose him.
Rachel Maddow is a good choice, too. She'd get those viewership ratings up in a couple of weeks! But I don't want to miss her during the week and I doubt she'd want to work six days a week!

(171,074 posts)that, he recovered from the debacle that was supposed to be about Michael Jackson? Maybe he's really a cat with a few lives left?

Who knows? Maybe the head honchos will take another look at him? After all, just like you said, he's a (cool) cat with a few lives left.

(36,974 posts)That way they would have a lot of time to do research and compose good questions regarding whatever topic they are going to talk about,
and they wouldn't have to give up their week night shows.
Just an idea

(15,189 posts)I'm sorry but,
She has enough money already. Martin Bashir or Rachel Maddow, or the weekly switch. IMO Mrs. Greenspan belongs at Faux.

Maybe in the KVLY/KXJB studios in Fargo. Fly everyone from DCA to MSP to FAR weekly.

(59,504 posts)A liberal, but not as partisan as some others. He has a very calm demeanor as he engages in thoughtful discussion with various people - over the Democratic portion of the political spectrum. Unlike a few others, it would not be a reach for him to moderate over the full political spectrum.
His background is eclectic enough to make him both interesting and very competent discussing complex issues. He was a former chief of staff of the Senate Finance committee under Moynihan. On any economic or tax issue, he is among the best anywhere explaining what options Congress has. (Even on other issues, his ability to read a piece of Congressional legislation and interpret it was seen when he - long before anyone -even in Congress - looked at the law itself on the "IRS scandal" issue. )
I love Rachel Maddow, but I am not sure she would be comfortable taking a neutral role. (Forget Ed Schultz - his opinion may change, but what doesn't change is his very strong advocacy for his position. This is NOT a negative where he is, but not for a moderator.

(34,136 posts)My parents loved watching it a did so faithfully every weekend when the local educational station showed it. With Dad passing away last summer, I made a special effort to visit Mom as often as possible. Over Thanksgiving weekend, Mom turned to Lawrence Welk. It was a retrospective, showing the cast members and their children over the years.
Mom was talking about how many years it had run, so I went to the computer to look up when it had started. On Wikipedia I found out that the last original show was filmed in 1982 though updates with a little added material were made for at least a while. When I told Mom, she was outraged, "You mean I've been watching re-runs for over thirty years!?"
When we visited Mom in January, for the first time I can remember on a weekend, she did NOT turn over to Lawrence Welk. I wish I had looked it up on the internet years ago!

(6,960 posts)The Sunday morning news/politics shows are relics of the past.
They cannot help but be little more than outlets for establishment/corporate propaganda.
I stopped watching them a couple of decades ago.
By the time Sunday morning rolls around, who doesn't already know what John McCain thinks, or the other half dozen regular 'guests' that they 'interview' have to say?
In the age of MSNBC, CNN, Aljazeera and Fox-PAC 'News' ... who needs 'Meet the Press'?
