Each year since 2006, the World Economic Forum releases its annual Global Gender Gap Report, which "examines the gap between men and women in four fundamental categories: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival and Political Empowerment." Out of the 110 countries that have been included in every report since the initial report in 2006, 95 have shown improvement over the last four years.
Globally, this means women are getting more opportunities than ever for economic participation, are gaining greater access to education, are living longer and healthier lives, and are playing a much larger role in political decision making. But which countries top the list? We partnered with Citi to bring you the list of the top 25 countries to be a woman

(20,043 posts)It's the whole 'we're the best & our ways are just fine' attitude that keeps us from keeping up with other countries in so many ways.
In the meantime we're falling far behind much of the rest of the world, in so many areas.
While we're celebrating our mediocrity, the rest of the world is passing us by.

Clearly women are much better off in Burundi than they are in the USA.
But if you cannot trust Citi, then who can you trust?

(53,056 posts)which is a separate issue from discrimination against women. The ranking is based on the Global Gender Gap report that looks at differences in the conditions of men and women in various countries. http://reports.weforum.org/global-gender-gap-report-2013/#=
The 25 richest countries would be a different list.
