American employers and multinational corporations won't be happy until American workers are at the level of the third world when it come to wages and benefits. That means 24 cents and hour and 80 hour work weeks no overtime. Our sinking wages are directly related to globalization that Reagan and the GOP were primarily responsible for birthing. This trend will not be reversed until Amercians accept and demand pro worker candidates.
The wage stats prove it. When more than half of the workers in the US make $25,000 or less it should be more than obvious that something is critically wrong with the structure of labor in our economy. I will guarantee that the GOP thinks $25,000 is too much because they want to tag the wages to the free (global) market and abolish the minimum wage altogether. Listen to their rhetoric.
Romney and his clan and the GOP will guarantee that jobs will continue to go overseas paid for by tax rebates to corporate Amercian that go directly to CEO's who would rather see China succeed than the US. That is why Romney wanted to GM go bankrupt so the jobs could go overseas.
So if you care about your children and your grand children the choices are obvious.

You can look it up on Google Earth.
Years ago I saw the only employment for men and children in bare feet and thought "This is what the RW wants for our country"
Men and a few women working from dawn till midnight to provide for their families. The women work in the stores..no men there to speak of.
It does break my heart every time I go down that street. On the other hand you can't beat the freshest of the fish.
Look it up and see the future of America.

(659 posts)I gotta think hard on how to improve our lot.
Do we need to deregulate home kitchens for those who have great foods to sell. Look out for USDA regulations. Do we need then or not?
Joblessness is improving but not enough. The excess jobless drives wages down I would think.
We gotta think hard and decide which regulations need to go and which to keep.
One simple fact, more tax fairness will go a long way to improving our lot. Tax the 1% more and economy will improve.
So many things we need to change... yep i CARE about our children and grandchildren's future.
The way the clown car is going, I'm sorta optimistic that us democrats can gradually steer the stupid republicans over the waterfall.

When you stop and think about just how a 5-6 percent additional loss in employment has impacted the consumer economy you appreciate what a mistake it was to have trade policy that favored big box retailers and that considered the displacement of a "few" percent of manufacturing workers no big deal.
Walmartization didn't work for our national economy and nothing has changed that will make it work for any national economy over the long run.
