So if you're with me, say it: "I like Obamacare."

Just got this email from David Axelrod: I liked the P.S. at the bottom.

Obamacare means never having to worry about getting sick and running up against a lifetime cap on insurance coverage. It gives parents the comfort of knowing their kids can stay on their insurance until they're 26, and that a "pre-existing condition" like an ear infection will never compromise their child's coverage.

It's about ending the practice of letting insurance companies charge women 50 percent more -- just because they're women.

And Obamacare can save seniors hundreds of dollars a year on prescription drugs -- and gives them access to preventive care that is saving their lives.

President Obama never lost sight of the fact that this reform is about people. People like his own mother, who spent the last years of her life fighting cancer -- and fighting with insurance companies, too.

That shouldn't happen. And because of Obamacare, it can't.

So next time you hear someone railing against Obamacare, remember what they're actually saying they want to take away.

And, today, stand with me in saying, "Hell yeah, I'm for Obamacare":

http://my.barackobama.com/I-Like-Obamacare

Thanks,

David Axelrod

P.S. -- Side note: Can you imagine if the opposition called Social Security "Roosevelt Security"? Or if Medicare was "LBJ-Care"? Seriously, have these guys ever heard of the long view?

Either it leads forward to universal health care, or it leads backwards to the destruction of Medicare. If the latter happens, it will go down the tubes along with the Democratic Party.

http://www.pressherald.com/news/GOP-Medicare-plan-borrows-from-and-repeals-Obamas.html

But if Obama is re-elected and his health care law is upheld by the Supreme Court, Wyden sees Medicare exchanges and a premium support system as the basis for a deal to reduce health care costs. He said Democrats would be hard pressed to argue against the idea if it is working for people under 65 as a result of the health care overhaul.

Unfortunately, I think that the mandate-to-purchase will be struck by the courts. The better route would have been to go the route of the Workers Compensation law; mandate that there be health care coverage, but let the states implement the nuts and bolts. As said elsewhere - it's a good start.

I really would not like to see Obamacare repealed, but if it is used as an excuse to eliminate Medicare. it and the Dems are toast for the forseeable future.

But not the final destination. The Affordable Care Act rights a lot of wrongs and prevents a lot of abuse by the insurance industry. However, I won't be satisfied until we have true 'universal healthcare'.

The thing doesn't kick into high gear until 2014, and I don't think anyone at this point really knows what the results are going to be. I've been spoiled with the health insurance system here in Japan where everyone is covered, premiums are based on income and family size, seniors and young kids get free or nearly free care, and there are no deductibles or dickering over who pays what-- the government insurance always pays 70% of necessary medical, dental and prescription costs, and private supplemental insurance is available to those who want it.

his family, and they canceled him when they took their child to the emergency room for 4 stitches, AND PAID FOR IT THEMSELVES because the cost was under their huge deductible. Canceled because....? They had an accident that they paid for themselves? Makes no sense to me. I don't see how this is different from the old way.

I've had the same thought before. FDR would have that much more ""immortality" and mindspace in people's idea of the history of the country if Social Security were called FDR Retirement or whatever. It would have been seen as hubris for the administration to intentionally call the ACA the ObamaCare Program. Instead, his opponents have given him a gift.

When I became ill last last year, I had an eye opening experience. Nothing will really change until the cost of the medical procedures are addressed - that's where the problem lies.

I have insurance and I still have major out of pocket expenses.
