On FOX (not Fox News) and the National Geographic channel, at 9:00 EDT/8:00 CDT.
This one's already going to piss some fundie right-wingers off, as tonight's episode will be introducing the Cosmic Calendar, which compresses the 14-billion-year history of the universe into one calendar year. Our solar system doesn't even form up until the fall, and the Creationists' entire timeline of 6,000 years would fit in the last 15 seconds of December 31!
Make sure your DVRs/VCRs have sprung forward. You won't want to miss it.

(7,671 posts)With Neil deGrasse Tyson hosting this show it will probably bring in tons of people, even the most fervent "steeple people". I personally don't think many people believe the 6000 year story but because of a lifetime of indoctrination refuse to question it.
Education, information, something you can see is a powerful tool. We can only hope that 21st century enlightenment will help us overcome our greed and ignorance. I'm excited!

(29,582 posts)That said, the VCR allowed you so much freedom to record what you wanted, when you wanted it. DVR's (maintained, and suppressed by your cable provider) do not.

(7,475 posts)Plus, the darn thing still works fine! I am of a generation that does not throw things out, even though there may be something new that might work better with all the new stuff available. As a bonus, I can pick up tapes at thrift shops for 50 cents or less. What a deal! I may pass some old thing to someone else if I don't use it but rarely throw it out.
