Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAny up and coming Democrats in your state you'd like us to know about?
And that you think we will know of in the future?
I'd like to think that there's a new crop of progressives out there.
I know CA has Kamala Harris. What about other states?

(26,298 posts)Dan has long been active in Flint politics - County Treasurer, on the board of commissioners, founded the Genesee County Land Bank to reclaim urban blight areas. He was elected to his first term in 2012, taking over the seat vacated when his uncle, Dale Kildee, retired.
Dan has been VERY active during his first term. He fights for veterans, the unemployed, the under employed, the elderly, the young. We honestly could not hope for a better representative in Washington.
he sounds great, though he's 55 and already in the U.S. House.
How about state officials and legislators?

(26,298 posts)Coincidentally, he got his political start volunteering for Dale Kildee. I met Phil while working on the Kerry campaign. He also worked in positions for the Michigan Democratic Party, and the Grandholm administration. He's been very active in fighting against the 'right to work' disaster that Rick Snyder brought to Michigan, and he fights for women's rights.
Phil won his seat in a special election. I'm hoping we see a lot more of Phil, and that his career eventually moves national.

(45,319 posts)I met Kate Brown before she was elected, liked her then and have been very proud of her work in office, happy to have been a very early supporter. Ellen is Oregon's first woman Attorney General and she's been great.

(11,481 posts)there's a woman named Mary Mancini that would be a fav on here. Even this commie likes her. She's not a red, but she's got a good heart and she's been an activist as long as I've known her, since 2011 or so. She's running a shoestring primary campaign against a better known Blue Dog type. Primary is in August.

(1,707 posts)Current two-term member of the Iowa House. She's a 27 year old Bosnian immigrant. She has solid progressive creds, in addition to a great story. I'm really looking forward to her representing me.

(84,711 posts)I'm getting e-mails from him on my Progressive Dem site. He's actually a serious candidate inspite of his celebrity and the shock when he announced his campaign.
And...he has his own money to fund his campaign which is a huge advantage for him agains the Repug Machine.

There are about 10 Republicans vying for these two positions. They all are clones. They all loudly proclaim that they:
-Vow to fight Obamacare
-Are "true conservatives"
-Support gun rights
-Are pro-life conservatives

(19,494 posts)He has a good chance to win a US House seat in November. I'm sure his sights are set much higher, and I'd be happy to vote for him for higher office.
Not to mention that it would be cool and would bewilder the Russians if we had a President Romanoff.
