Local radio wingnut tries new voter suppression trick on me
In my Blue area of a very Red state, one of my candidates made a relatively minor misstep, which the wingnut admits is "not fatal" but he e-mailed, "But even an optimist like YOU can't think he has a real chance?"
What is he thinking I should do -- not vote, roll up in a ball and die, vote for the winning TeaBagger, or what?!1
So I replied:
In the past you have ASSumed that I (or all Dems or whoever) were OBAMA idolators or Hillary idolators or (insert name)- idolators. You said that my candidate’s one small misstep meant “the bloom is off,” your apparent ASSumption being that we supporters had thought he was the Son of God previously. I asserted to you back then, and over the years, that all that is left of my personal hero-worship are FDR, HST, and LBJ – despite their well known character flaws. Woodrow WILSON was my earliest hero, but the Shrub fakery of abusing WILSON’s idealism of spreading democracy made me hang back in my old age, especially regarding the colonialism of WILSON’s era, where the roots of many of our current problems remain.
Get it? I DON’T CARE about OBAMA or Hillary or whoever else personally, just that whoever is a candidate is a good Democrat. I care about the DEMOCRATIC AGENDA. I support just about WHOEVER is the current standard bearer who is the most authentic Dem we’ve had in the past twenty years.
In case you’ve missed it, my Democratic candidates have been LOSING for 20 yrs, and we lifelong Dems have a long history of having our hearts broken repeatedly by many MANY fine humans who lost to Rethug SCOUNDRELS (redundancy). Whether the current candidate loses is a total IRRELEVANCY except that four more years of Rethug misery will ensue.
