just different means......political, economic etc., rather than military

Today Poland invoked article 4 of NATO.........that being convening the NATO council as they feel threatened by current events. We are quick returning to an active Cold War........it's always been there since 91.......just running in the background.

Thus guaranteeing that if and when Russia recovered from the post collapse economic disaster it would do so with deep antipathy toward the US.

We had a "cold war" with the Soviet Union. We won what will probably prove to be a Pyrrhic victory. That's not to say we don't have ongoing "cold wars" with any number of other states.

It was just in a stage of detente. A relaxing of the tension. The nuclear bolts were still in the crossbows. I think Putin has been cranking up the tension for some time now.

Think about it - hackers can do far more damage to a country's infrastructure today with computers than anyone can with a gun.
