The first hatching is expected between 23rd and 25th, Decorah time. I'm hoping that the first pip may happen tomorrow, Sydney time, when I will be home and can watch it.
Last year I came on board at the third hatching; this year I saw the first egg laid and I'm hoping I also see the first pip and then the hatching.
The viewing numbers are climbing every day, as thousands join in to watch for the first hatching. So exciting, and so beautiful!

(62,325 posts)so involved with them, people from all over the country and the world, were worried about their safety each time there was bad weather. I used to wake up at night and check on them and thought I was the only person crazy enough to do that. Then I read the comments in the chat room and so many people were doing the same thing. It was kind of sad when they grew up, although wonderful also.
I love how the eagles are such good parents and how much the father is involved all the way through.

(28,349 posts)I have a monitor dedicated to that family, so I can glance over at them to see how they're doing. Or if I see activity out of the corner of my eye, I'll stop what I'm doing to watch.
I find them beautiful & soothing. I'm battling cancer and am all keyed up & angry over the war on women & the Trayvon tragedy that this surely helps to make things better.

(62,325 posts)as if the eagles had tens of thousands of anxious parents.
I am so sorry you are battling cancer, that must be so stressful for you and I hope you are successful. I can see why watching the eagles would so soothing for you. It is like a form of therapy.
I have not checked in today, but they are expecting a baby to come out of the egg either today or tomorrow so I will keep checking in as it would be so exciting to see it as it happens. I missed that part last year.
Take care of yourself, sending positives thoughts for your quick recovery
