Thank you to all the fundy American so-called Christians who feed this barbarism. If there's a hell, you and the monsters responsible for this may look forward to the same treatment.
President Obama, use your hotline and moral authority. Ditto Pope Francis

As the deceased lies forlorn near railway tracks, onlookers, including children look on, one imagines resigned, elated that yet another individual has been appropriately punished for having gone against the grain of society.
The image comes off the back of a purported video that made the rounds last week including that of two gay men beaten to death by an angry mob with planks of wood. In that video image, police are seen abiding by the crowd as they continually to mercilessly beat the two men to death. In the background an ambulance is sent back on its way.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Even with a graphic warning this picture is not okay, I know that this is happening and I know it is terrible but this is pure shock content.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sun Mar 2, 2014, 12:48 AM, and the Jury voted 0-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Discomfort is important. Makes it real.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Graphically disturbing⦠beyond disturbing, yet, this kind of reality should not be shielded. Maybe we should be disturbed into doing something about homophobia and xenophobia. Maybe it TAKES this to get us there a little earlier.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: TAKE IT IN!
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: How can reality be "shock content"? If this post is real, the whole world needs to see it in gruesome detail.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I agree this is a horrible image and thanks to your alert, I got to see it without warning. But eridani did a very good job of warning in the title and I'm not going to hide a post that has adequately warned whoever clicks on it.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(6,086 posts)sometimes, people need to see the true horror of man's inhumanity to man in order to understand why it's so important to stop this. For at least 120 years, there have been innumerable photos of my people after being lynched, hanging from trees. it was only after the world saw this and understood the horrific effect of hatred and terrorism visited against my people, that things began to change. Think of the photographic records of the indecribable hell of the Holocaust and what they do to invalidate the LIES of the deniers? I want you to know that I understand but it does serve a purpose.

(53,994 posts)Even if the picture isn't "real", the violence against GLBT people in Uganda (and other countries) is very real! I agreed with your statement that sometimes people need to see things like this because otherwise, it just isn't real to them. Our struggles are nothing but an abstract to some.
Personally, I am glad people like you are willing to step and say, "NO! You need to SEE this! It is a reality!!"

(6,086 posts)on the idea that because this was from another incident, we don't have to be concerned about what people are going through in countries where you have state sanctioned gay bashing....My grandfather was part of the first troops that helped to liberate Auschwitz & he NEVER forgot what he saw and smelled. He was a black man of mixed descent and although he had seen and experienced hatred but when he saw that HUGE complex of interconnected camps filled with the dead, the decomposed and the walking dead, (FOR REAL) he was enraged. I will NEVER back down from anyone who minimises the suffering of another human being at the hands of another because of hatred.

(16,149 posts)thanks in part to U.S. Evangelical Churches and their so-called "missionaries" who have exported this blinding hot hatred to Africa. And we subsidize all this with their TAX FREE status. Your tax dollars at work!

(6,086 posts)sick and tired of them hiding behind their twisted ideas of who and what Christ is to justify and rationalise their genocidal hatred.
