A stunning new report indicates the U.S. Navy knew that sailors from the nuclear-powered USS Ronald Reagan took major radiation hits from the Fukushima atomic power plant after its meltdowns and explosions nearly three years ago.
Sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) conduct a counter-measure wash down on the flight deck to remove potential radiation contamination while operating off the coast of Japan providing humanitarian assistance in support of Operation Tomodachi, March 22, 2011. If true, the revelations cast new light on the $1 billion lawsuit filed by the sailors against Tokyo Electric Power. Many of the sailors are already suffering devastating health impacts, but are being stonewalled by Tepco and the Navy.
The Reagan had joined several other U.S. ships in Operation Tomodachi (Friendship) to aid victims of the March 11, 2011 quake and tsunami. Photographic evidence and first-person testimony confirms that on March 12, 2011 the ship was within two miles of Fukushima Daiichi as the reactors there began to melt and explode.
In the midst of a snow storm, deck hands were enveloped in a warm cloud that came with a metallic taste. Sailors testify that the Reagans 5,500-member crew was told over the ships intercom to avoid drinking or bathing in desalinized water drawn from a radioactive sea. The huge carrier quickly ceased its humanitarian efforts and sailed 100 miles out to sea, where newly published internal Navy communications confirm it was still taking serious doses of radioactive fallout.

Well here's a banana
Does Obama have something against Georgia? Is this his Sherman's march to the sea for future generations? A type of 34 dimensional chess against the south?......... just kidding but I like tossing bananas, not at you especially but for some to chew on..
I had two friends, vets, that died from
handling agent blue and agent orange which they had to fight the VA and the military for disabilities for years. I wonder how long these sailors will have to fight to win theirs?

(6,145 posts)I thought they would be on this thread posting about how the sailors are greedy opportunists looking for an easy payday and their story is bullshit (again).

(19,964 posts)I think there's probably a lot about Fukushima that we'll never be told. And this is far from over.

(4,517 posts)I'm surprised the CO didn't order the ship to lock down using the nuclear warfare NBC precautions that the ship is trained to use, that is likely related, some full bird got his star and is playing games of CYA after the fact. I'm surprised they didn't secure the RO's and go on water restrictions. Oh well, what else is new, FTN.
