Surprisingly, I read that Hawaii has it on tap. Not gonna go anywhere, but it is on the legislative docket.

Arizona hasn't been the only state pushing a bill that would allow open discrimination against same-sex couples; similar bills have been popping up in states including Tennessee, Kansas, South Dakota and Maine.

3. The Texas Legislature is not in session until 2015

Texas already has a similar but far less restrictive law that only applies to governmental agencies http://www.democraticunderground.com/107815595 Unless Goodhair calls a special session, a bill to amend the current Texas law to include non-governmental entities can not be considered until 2015 because we only let our legislature meet for a limited number of days every two years.

My high school civics teacher was fond of telling me

No true Texan can sleep soundly while the Texas legislature is in session.

That saying is still true

Corbett is done. It's just a matter of which Democratic candidate will replace him. If not for gerrymandering, they'd lose the state legislature too. Doing something like the AZ bill is one way they could screw themselves even with the gerrymandering.

12. These anti-gay laws are ridiculous

They're having the exact OPPOSITE effect. They're shining a giant beacon of light on the vile, disgusting and hateful views espoused by these scumbags, so the whole world can see how repugnant their views really are. Every time one of these laws pops up, it drives independent voters to the democratic party.

(from a report on AmericaBlog.com)

As reported by Al Jazeera America:

Cornerstone in Idaho, the Kansas Family Policy Council, and the Center for Arizona Policy, which supports the bill there, are all part of a network of 38 state “family policy councils” pressing for these laws under the umbrella of Citizen Link, the advocacy arm of the conservative Christian powerhouse Focus on the Family.

Possibly consulting ALEC for tips on passing legislation. Also the Koch brothers' State Policy Network may be involved.

I suspect these RW networks may also be behind other "exclusionary" legislation like the idiotic bills banning Sharia Law and the voter ID laws.
