Brewer to make statement on SB 1062 as pressure mounts at 7:45

As both sides ramp up pressure in the fight over legislation that opponents say encourages discrimination against gays and lesbians, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer's office said she would make a statement about the controversial bill Wednesday.

Brewer is expected to veto the measure, but she hasn't said publicly what steps she'll take.

Opinions are sharply divided on the politically charged measure, SB 1062, approved last week by the state's Republican-led legislature and now at Brewer's desk.

Brewer's office said she would make a statement at 7:45 p.m. ET today.

The bill proposes to give Arizona businesses that assert their religious beliefs the right to deny service to gay and lesbian customers.
