Portrait of the Artist as a Young War Criminal
Posted on February 25, 2014 by MalloyProducer 0 Comments
George W Bush is finally being recognized for his genius. No, seriously. Hes not being honored as the President who created the largest deficit in history, or for racking up the most war crimes, but for his artistic prowess.
The Decider has decided to bare his soul to the world by displaying his creations in the Bush Presidential Library. That should make attendance skyrocket, right?
From CNN:
The exhibit, The Art of Leadership: A Presidents Personal Diplomacy, will feature his paintings, as well as artifacts, photographs, and personal reflections about his relationships made on the world stage, according to the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas, which is hosting the exhibit.
After leaving office in 2009, the 43rd President took up painting as a hobby and hired an instructor, telling his teacher: Theres a Rembrandt trapped in this body. Your job is to find it.
Bush told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King that the hobby helps him relax and see colors in a new light.
I am, I guess, tapping a part of the brain that, you know, certainly never used when I was a teenager. And I get the satisfaction out of completing a project, he said, adding that he loves to paint peoples pets and give the paintings as gifts.
Wow there are parts of his brain that havent been tapped! Missing parts that couldve proved useful during his years in the Oval Office, no doubt. And somebody call a doctor; theres a Rembrandt trapped in Dim Sons body! For Gods sake, let him out!!!
Rembrandt?
Like his mind, his art is simple. For those of us who will not be visiting the exhibit (!) here is a preview of the masterpieces we are missing:
There are the disturbing bathroom selfies:
Notice the intense self-reflection in the mirror. Is he pondering the tens of thousands of victims of his terror wars? Questioning his use of partial drowning against innocent prisoners? The use of chemical weapons that burned the flesh off children in Iraq? Wondering if he missed a spot shaving?
Heres a nice one of his dog Barney:
Hey, its the same pup he joked couldnt find the WMDs in his infamous White House Correspondents dinner!
Theres this sweet little kitty in a mirror:
Another pensive portrait displaying deep reflection. The kitty is looking back at its tail. Contemplating previous mistakes? The life that (Bush) might have been had he not devoted his life to death and destruction? Yearning for the opportunity to erase the errors of the past? Looking for the ball of yarn lost under the bed?
Watermelon study:
Note the keen use of negative space. Bush knows his negative space.
An ass painted an ass:
Nuff said.
Last year Vanity Fair published a series of Dubya-esque paintings that would be a more appropriate representation of his service to our nation. Here are some paintings we wish hed display:
Its nice to see the former leader of the free world doing something useful with his retirement. Clearly hes not so popular on the speaking tour circuit. Not being very adept at, well . . . . speaking.
Could be worse. He couldve taken a stab at writing poetry. Oh wait . . . .
Dear Laura
Roses are red, violets are blue, oh my lump in the bed, how Ive missed you.
Roses are redder, bluer am I, seeing you kissed by that charming French guy.
The dogs and the cat they miss you too, Barneys still mad you dropped him, he ate your shoe.
The distance my dear has been such a barrier, next time you want an adventure, just land on a carrier.
-GWB
He missed his calling.

(11,075 posts)Mike mentioned that the PR agency Hill & Knowlton was behind the Petroleum Institute's propaganda and pro-tobacco ads.
Hill Knowlton was also behind the "Baby Incubator" lie leading up to the first Gulf War.

(11,175 posts)Your post has been alerted on the basis that you linked to a crackpot site. Some other links for Hill & Knowlton's involvement in the incubator lie:
"When contemplating war, beware of babies in incubators" (The Christian Science Monitor)
"Nayirah (testimony)" (Wikipedia article with additional sources)

(6,057 posts)I was not aware that was a nut job site. It just happened to be the first one I came upon when searching for the Hill & Knowlton/Kuwait propaganda.

(6,107 posts)On Tue Feb 25, 2014, 09:22 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
Hi all!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=4565413
REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
WhatReallyHappened.com is an anti-Semitic/crank/conspiracy site. Shouldn't link to that, Infowars, Before It's News, etc.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Tue Feb 25, 2014, 09:37 PM, and the Jury voted 3-3 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Originally said to leave, then reading comment of alerter I checked the site and it indeed is indeed clearly anti-semitic, not just anti-Israel and should not be used or trusted as a source.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: This particular statement happens to be completely accurate. In lieu of suppressing the post, I'll reply to it with some better links for the same fact.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.
rdharma
(6,057 posts)Gee, thanks! You voted to hide it.
I had no idea that the site was anti-Semitic or otherwise...... it was just the first site I came to when searching for the Hill & Knowlton Kuwait propaganda info (which I knew to be true).
Mike just mentioned the same thing on his show.
The next time you are on a jury, you should probably also check the poster's past history. I've never posted anything anti-Semitic.
HERVEPA
(6,107 posts)I was referring only to the source.
rdharma
(6,057 posts)At least you were gutsy enough to tell me how you voted.
Jim Lane
(11,175 posts)I was on the jury (#6) and no one accused you personally of being anti-Semitic. The point was just that the particular site you linked to was, unbeknownst to you, one that purveys anti-Semitism and other garbage. There's an argument for hiding such posts regardless of who authors them.
What swayed me in this case wasn't your pristine history (which I also didn't check -- I don't think checking that is a juror's duty). What swayed me was that, like you, I knew the statement to be true.
Sourcing tip: If your search turns up a Wikipedia article as one hit, go there to find reliable sources. Wikipedia has a policy of requiring reliable sources even when an editor knows personally that a statement is true, so some of the whacko sites get weeded out. (It isn't perfect, because some RW editors there consider Media Matters a whacko site, but it's usually worth checking.)
