See if you can guess what issue I emailed him about.
I'll post it later.
"Thank you for contacting me to share your views on a number of important issues.
From repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, to protecting our borders and our national security, to ensuring the executive branch is prevented from further overreach, our nation faces many serious challenges. The single greatest threat facing our nation, however, is the pending debt crisis caused by reckless and out of control federal spending. I appreciate the benefit of your views on a number of these issues. Please be assured I will keep your thoughts in mind as Congress considers related legislation in the 113th Congress.
Again, thank you for contacting me on these matters. It is my great honor to serve as your Member of Congress, and it is my number one priority to represent you and the best interests of the First District of Alabama. If you would like to stay in touch with my office, visit byrne.house.gov to sign up for my newsletter. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future with any of your concerns or questions."

(54,256 posts)It's the best worded non reply I've seen yet.
I can see it now...
Some Minion In Bradley's Office: "Boss, we got an email from a guy in our district that says 'why have the Republicans given up on passing any meaningful legislation?'
BB: "Send him the standard reply."
SMIBO: "Which one?"
BB: "You're new aren't you?"
SMIBO: "Yessir."
BB: "There's only ONE 'standard reply'. It's the one we send to all constituents. Joanie has it. Ask her for it."

(51 posts)We hear this phrase a lot - used by GOP and Far Right - as THE example of what is wrong with the gummint, etc.
Have any of those people who make that charge ever identified just what it is they consider the wild spending to be? Specifics, anyone?

(54,256 posts)I sent him a couple of paragraphs from an article that said the repugs in the House had 'given up' on this session.
They realized that none of the wingnut crap they could push through the house would ever make it through the senate.
And they certainly wouldn't pass any bills from Dems.
So they decided the best thing they could do was sit on their hands until the next election and hope for a change in the senate.
I asked him if he was part of this group and if he thought that's why 'we' elected him.
