Colorado Girl Scouts told not to sell cookies outside pot shops

http://news.yahoo.com/girl-scouts-cookies-colorado-pot-shops-134107732.html

Girl Scouts of Colorado officials are defending the organization's decision to effectively bar its members from selling cookies outside the state's marijuana dispensaries.

"There's a place for everything, and just like a liquor store or a gun show, a marijuana dispensary isn't a place for young girls to be selling cookies," Rachelle Trujillo, chief marketing officer for the Girl Scouts of Colorado, told the Huffington Post. "There are plenty of other options for customers of adult businesses to purchase cookies at other locations."...

Last week, Danielle Lei, a 13-year-old Girl Scout, sold 117 boxes of Girl Scout cookies outside San Francisco's Green Cross medical marijuana dispensary in just two hours....

"The mom decided this was a place she was comfortable with her daughter being,” Dana Allen, director of marketing and communications for Girl Scouts of Northern California, told Mashable. "We're not telling people where they can and can't go if it's a legitimate business."

Bummer, dude.

4. Are people allowed to smoke the marijuana in the Colorado stores?

I thought it was just they could buy it, but they had to smoke it in the privacy of their own homes. If that's the case, then I could see the cookies being like an impulse item at the checkout station of a store or something a ganja-user would buy if he or she were thinking ahead, but I don't think they would necessarily have the success of the Girl Scout in California who sold cookies outside of a medical marijuana place where I think they do smoke it inside.

Or in other words: Do people buy their beer and chips at the same time? Or do they buy their beer, go home and drink it, and then go buy chips?

Seriously, where best to sell fattening trashy food than in the place where The Munchies was born. They shouldn't be punishing this girl. They should be creating a new Marketing merit badge in her honor.

She's in SF. What they are doing is preventing any Girl Scouts in Colorado from following her example and earning their Marketing merit badges.

They require permits and are limited to specific location.

Sucks for the girl scout, though. Good idea.

in "Masterplanistan", that is, Irvine, CA. The Irvine Company owns most of the land, and made her jump through all kinds of hoops so that her daughter could sell Girl Scout cookies.

11. Guess the Girl Scouts don't know that kids use medical marijuana, like Charlotte...

Medical MJ is not solely an adult medicine. Also, the kids are set up in front of the Walgreens today which sells other medicines.

Ridiculous and short sighted
