I wonder how many Americans get their news the same place I got mine Sunday morning?

No, not Press the Meat, but from the tabloids in the checkout aisle at the local supermarket. After carefully scanning the Impulse Items and determining that I needed none of them, my attention turned to the pulpy papers that appear like weeds around the checkout.

What I learned:

The biggest news this week is Kim Kardashian's butt. Apparently it's growing and cannot be stopped.

Second is divorce. Lots of celebrities are getting divorced. Lots of money is involved.

Third is some celebrity lost some weight.

Fourth is some celebrity gained some weight, and it's not on a Kardashian butt.

So there you go - all the news you need to know to be an informed American.

As I was patiently waiting to check out Sunday I also checked out the asswipe papers/magazines. Laughing mostly at what the editors think is news. I see people grabbing them up all the time so some are definitely getting their 'news' from them LOL

I watched the Evening News on ABC (or was it CBS) and read The Economist, my local newspaper and the New Yorker.

the attraction to humongous butts? And it seems that it's only the women who want them. I think it's very unappealing.

On a more serious note, a prof I used to assist (she was blind) loved 'em. No, not because they were news. She loved the gossipy nature of them. Oh she knew it was gossip, but preferred that fantasy to reality. I wonder how many consumers of these are like that? I've met people in Mexico who consume Hola, the equivalent, for the same reason.

I had no idea that Kim Kardashian's butt was taking over the country. It's left CA and is now entering Nevada. I think I can stock up on toilet paper well before it gets to Kansas. Thanks for the tip!
