Looks Like The Long-Term Unemployed Have Dropped Off The Radar Yet Again

A few weeks ago people seemed to maybe give a shit.

Now, not so much.

BTW - that concern a few weeks ago was aimed at those who had just been cut off from extended federal UI benefits. In the meantime, NO concern is being directed at the REALLY long term unemployed who have exhausted their benefits and who are having no luck at all finding employment. I guess those people are just shit out of luck at every conceivable level. Why don't they just get a job???

People like me who are in their 50s may not be able to dig a ditch or operate machinery, but we could be used in logistics roles - managing workforces, managing paperwork and office staff. It's what they did back in the 1930s.

It's not make work - we need to repair our infrastructure. It would be a good use of tax dollars. Job that needs to be done meets ready-to-go workforce.

I'd take that over extended UI any day of the week.

BTW - my extended benefits ran out in August.

As long as the private sector isn't creating enough jobs, we're going to be spending tax dollars to shore up the economy. Might as well spend some of that $ on actual projects.

The Republicans will naturally blame it on the failure of Obama's policies. E need to beat the drums and point out the utter hypocrisy.

I've sent out (to date) 1500 resumes, applied for every job that comes along that I'm physically capable of doing............

Yeah, I'd like to "get a job".

I also have sent thousands of resumes and have had a fair number of interviews, but I'm 59, and that is the kiss of death these days.

BTW - whenever someone asks me why I "don't just get a job," I ask them why they "don't just get your salary doubled?"

I have read that legalizing 10-30 million undocumented immigrants will boost the economy. Maybe that would create the 50 million living wage jobs that are needed?
