I agree they were wrong to send her to the mental health unit -- but where does it say they said she asked for it?

I hope the family wins the lawsuit and gets enough money to let her live like a queen in the time she has left.

Days later, an administrator at Edgewood Vista appeared to defend the rapist even after his admission to police.

According to court testimony, Marilyn Moore, clinical services director at the home, asked Flesvig, “Did she tell you that this was consensual? Did she tell you that she flirts with this boy mercilessly?”

In a separate conversation with Mary Salisbury, a sexual assault advocate, Moore said she thought the elderly woman “was making it up,” and referred to the woman as a “flirt.”

“I was just shocked that somebody was so blatantly putting the blame on this woman,” Flesvig said. Moore could not be reached for comment Friday.

Mark Kosieradzki, the victim’s attorney, argues that the Health Department failed in its duty as a regulator by not conducting a thorough investigation of Edgewood’s handling of the case.

“Is this a situation where the state doesn’t understand where a woman is harmed if she’s raped?” Kosieradzki asked.

Since the case came to light, sexual assault advocates said they were amazed that the rape survivor persisted with her claims amid the obstacles.

I agree that it is horrific, but like others here, did not see it in the link that you posted.

If Ms Moore is not herself fired immediately, she should be. How on earth could one consider an 89-year-old with dementia able to give consent? She is as vulnerable as any child.

Information about Edgewood - a private facility: http://edgewoodseniorliving.com/pages/edgewood_management_group/

From the link:

Edgewood’s Core Values

Honesty and dependability
Accountability
Respect for coworkers, residents and their families
Commitment to serve our residents
Commitment to continuous quality development
Commitment to teamwork

And how could she be committed to a mental health wing - without even being physically examined - after she had alleged rape? If there aren't procedures for this kind of event, there should be. EVERYONE involved with this should be held to account.

This could be your Great-aunt, your Grandmother, your Family.

That is fucked up. I visited my Grandma when she went into the nursing home every day for this reason. To make sure she was alright. She also usually wanted a Wendy's hamburger, too, and would brag on me when I made the newspaper for academic achievements.

You have to be with your elders, even if they are in a facility, and you have to protect them, visit them and care about them.

Yet, people here can tell a rape victim she is lying for sympathy or to score cheap points, and be flagged for review and re-instated within hours.

We see all sorts of posts saying women lie about rape, like it's a common.

The whole thing, makes me want to vomit.

Nope, there is no rape culture... keep telling yourself that.

This is the thread:

At post #16 a woman talks about her experience with sexual assault. If you follow the subthread, you will see what she is referring to. I didn't know about the review/reinstatement. That just makes the whole thing sadder.

You feign ignorance of what is common place. I pointed to examples of subjects in which such discussions occur. You can do a search of threads on those topics if you are interested. If, on the other hand, your purpose is trying to goad someone in posting something that will be hidden by a jury and you don't actually care about the continual arguments accusing rape victims of making false allegations, you won't bother. I've seen enough of your posts to guess how that will go.

at many facilities to diminish as medicaid and Medicare reimbursement to nursing facilities plummets with the influx of baby boomers. I recently interviewed for dining director at a facility who told me that the budget for dining equals less than $4.00 per person per day...i declined.
