Obama: Employer-based health insurance system not going anywhere

http://www.politico.com/story/2014/02/obamacare-employer-based-health-insurance-103383.html

Though the latest delays to the employer mandate — coupled with ones announced last year — have led to questions about whether the administration is in part trying to push Americans toward the individual health insurance market and de-couple insurance from employment, Obama said there are no such intentions behind his administration’s tweaks. “I don’t think an employer-based system will be or should be replaced any time soon,” he said.

But the law does give workers the “flexibility” to be able to consider leaving corporate jobs to start their own businesses or pursue other work while still having health insurance coverage. Because of the availability and affordability of individual plans under the ACA, workers are able to say: ‘I’m not going to be inhibited from starting a new company because I’m worried about keeping health insurance for myself and my family,’” Obama said.
