Christie: "Americans don't want income equality."

repukes were celebrating on Morning Joe today. They have the "old" Chris Christie back!

Nicolle Wallace spazzed out on Chuck Todd today, who dared to not agree that Christie has "overcome" his liabilities and the coast is clear. Wallace started yelling at him, completely hogging his time on the panel. You could tell he was getting annoyed with her. He started pushing back but then dialed it back. She really wouldn't let him speak. At one point she snapped "Rachel isn't on until 9!" Oh, my. I'd like to see Wallace debate Rachel. I'd buy a ticket to that debate!

Typical of these Republicans, don't you think?

...but the bridge revelations are still coming.

In my opinion, "income equality" refers to women getting pay equal to that of men. It's not about poor people making the same amount of money as rich people.

So, typically, Republicans try to shift the frame.

Hopefully a few high-profile Democrats will call Christie on this latest bout of bullshit.

Future ad: shot of obese Christie, looking gorged, saying, "I want a little more"

the thighs...I think his pants were too snug in places, or maybe he should just shift in his seat a bit when being full on taped.

No one has ever said the American people want "income equality". Americans recognize that not everyone can be "wealthy" (and that is a relative term) and in fact most people, myself included, really don't want to be "wealthy".

The polls suggest that Americans believe that income inequality has become unacceptably skewed. While Americans don't want income equality, they at least want all Americans to share in the wealth. Worker productivity has soared in recent years often driven by the adoption of new technologies.

So if productivity has soared and we see from the earnings reports that many companies are doing very well, Americans want a share of that wealth that they helped create flow to them and not just to the top 1%.

It is a desire that Americans have opportunity to get a decent job that pays a living wage with benefits. It is a desire that companies don't jettison 25% of their workforce as soon as there is a slow-down and then rehire them for less money. It is a desire that companies don't let all their 50+ workers go just because there is a perception that older workers are more expensive both in salary/benefits but also in terms of vacation time, sick leave and medical costs.

I for one don't want "equality" in income. What I want is for my two 20-something nephews and their wives to be able to earn enough to purchase a home and raise their families without having to work 2 jobs or constantly be in fear of losing their job AND their health insurance.

Must be comforting to live in the 'selective information' word that many republicans live in. The reality-based world that most Democrats live in is a lot messier and more complicated than is the GOP make-believe one.
